Homeschool + Community

Do you want your tween or teen to have the flexibility of homeschooling as well as the social, emotional and intellectual benefits of learning in community?

The Hub’s part-time online microschool can make this possible.

What's Been Missing

Homeschoolers typically have access to various classes, activities and groups.

But especially in the tween and teen years, these experiences are often short and structured, with frequent turnover, leaving limited time for exploration, deeper interaction, or lasting peer relationships to develop—things that matter deeply at this stage of life. And filling the gap informally can be hard to sustain in practice.

That's where The Hub steps in.

What The Hub Offers

The Hub serves as a “home base” for homeschooled tweens and teens who want a consistent, rich and engaging peer-learning experience.

Small, facilitated cohorts meet two mornings a week (six hours total) to work together on collaborative, curiosity-led activities and projects that can touch on anything from abstract art to zoology, shaped by everyone's interests and input. This leaves plenty of time for core academic studies and individual pursuits.

The Hub's approach helps young people not only expand their intellectual horizons, but also build important life skills and meaningful connections. Cohorts age up with participants, many of whom stay with us for years.

Attend an open house or schedule a meeting to see if The Hub is right for your child.

What Your Tween or Teen Can Gain From The Hub

Peer Community

Consistent cohorts with socially healthy cultures and regular shared activities allow trust and friendships to form and deepen over time, with participants inspiring and supporting each other while enjoying a sense of belonging.

(A facilitator explains how a positive peer group can inspire growth in this short video.)

Intellectual Stimulation

Activities harness natural curiosity and the Socratic method to broaden horizons and deepen understanding of all sorts of subjects (e.g., language, science, social studies, math, art), in an organic, interdisciplinary and engaging way.

(Discover how curiosity can fuel learning in this short video.)

Life Skills

Facilitated collaboration builds vital skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and communication.

Empowered Mindset

Young people build agency and confidence by contributing to decision making.

Fun, Fulfillment, and Future-Readiness

Regular peer engagement sparks joy and meets key developmental needs, while also preparing young people for adulthood.

What It Looks Like in Action

Tweens and teens are placed in cohorts of up to 10 peers, alongside two facilitators who actively guide as well as participate. Together, they shape each session around shared interests and curiosities.

Activities include discussions, storytelling, games, puzzles, collaborative artwork, and more, along with one or more longer-term group projects each term.

Families maintain full flexibility in their homeschooling outside of sessions.

How Families Experience The Hub

The above video shares family reflections on The Hub experience, with more feedback examples below:

"[My daughter] loves being part of The Hub. I already see some effects: she is much more assertive and willing to have discussions on deep topics." — A.L.

"[My son] has made great friends at The Hub, and it’s interesting to hear him discuss subjects he’s exposed to there. I also love how often I hear him laughing." — F.M.

“The Hub fulfills a really vital need in our homeschooling journey. We belong to other groups, but [my son] was really missing the constant contact it takes to create real true friendships. By seeing the same kids twice a week over longer periods of time, he’s been able to develop friendships that he enjoys. They’re respectful, and they’re having a lot of fun, and a lot of laughter. It’s really filled in that missing piece for homeschooling.” — S.L.

“You’ve created digital joy, which is very hard to find.” — C.C.
